We have recently made a bespoke cardboard box for a client,  Conny Pitcher. It is a lovely wooden Christmas decoration. 

Conny brought the item into us because she needed some packaging but did not want to spend a lot as it is a new business.

We wrapped the item in bubblewrap, measured it for the internal dimensions and then recommended and made a style 0411 brown single wall

5 sided wrap. This is the decoration in our box.

THE FUTURE FOR PACKAGING MATERIALS – DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND!

These days we’re all being persuaded to use less and recycle more and this doesn’t apply more than in the retail sector. Businesses are being encouraged to be responsible in their choice of packaging materials used and to consider its environmental impact. This is why corrugated cardboard is leading the revolution in the future of sustainable packaging.

Plastic, steel and polystyrene have for a long time been the first choice for packaging materials, this is because retailers, on and off-line, have gone for the most obvious sources without necessarily considering other options available or indeed their ability to be recycled and become more environmentally friendly.

However, there is change in the air. As packaging materials come under the spotlight it is time for businesses to reconsider their options and aim to increase their environmental and social responsibility by choosing sustainable packaging products.

A recent example of such change was by Amazon who has made a start on reducing the volume of a selection of its shipping containers resulting in a saving of 45g of printed card inserts and 40g of plastic display film per pack. Amazon’s long term goal is to supply its entire catalogue in this environmentally friendly corrugated cardboard.

Amazon isn’t the only company to be re-evaluating their packaging usage, Cadbury’s, in association with Tesco, has also been leading the way in reducing the use of unsustainable packaging materials. Cadbury’s have decided to change the traditional tin packaging for its Roses and Heroes confectionary in favour of a cardboard box. The trial will take place in Tesco stores in the run up to Christmas and will see a reduction of 45 per cent in pack weight and save around 200 tonnes of steel per annum.

The use of corrugated cardboard isn’t restrictive:

* It is 100% recyclable and reusable.

* Can be completely tailored to suit your requirements so that no extra cushioning materials are required, saving you money.

* If extra cushioning materials are needed then these can also be produced out of corrugated cardboard instead of plastic or polystyrene, which is more environmentally friendly.

* Corrugated cardboard boxes can be printed with your logo for example, helping you increase your brands awareness.

Boxtopia is a cardboard box utopia for people looking for short run orders of boxes of any size, shape and quantity. If you simply need one box and have so far struggled to find anything suitable, as I had did years ago (which is why I set up Boxtopia in the first place) then you've found the right website.

Most of our cardboard boxes are made from recycled paper and even the virgin papers used are from sustainable forests. This makes your boxes both recyclable and bio-degradable.

As for our website, we've packed it full of useful features to make your life easier including the very popular box calculator (on the right) which gives you everything you need to get a price and for you to get ordering fast.

We'd also like to draw your attention to the menu on the left which includes links to the additional products on offer such as tape, bubble wrap and even specific packs for moving house or office.

We're also one of the only companies in the UK to print your logo or message onto even the smallest box order and we even supply die cut boxes which means they can be cut into specific shapes and sizes.
